Utah Warrantless Arrest is an arrest made by a law enforcement officer without the prior authorization of a court. A warrantless arrest is allowed under certain circumstances in the state of Utah. Under Utah law, a warrantless arrest can be made when a law enforcement officer has reasonable cause to believe that a person has committed a felony or misdemeanor, has witnessed a felony or misdemeanor being committed, has probable cause to believe that a person has violated certain laws, or is necessary to prevent the imminent commission of a crime. There are three types of Utah Warrantless Arrest: 1. Arrests for Felonies or Misdemeanors: A law enforcement officer may make a warrantless arrest when he or she has reasonable cause to believe that a person has committed a felony or misdemeanor. 2. Arrests of Witnesses: A law enforcement officer may make a warrantless arrest when he or she has witnessed a felony or misdemeanor being committed. 3. Preventive Arrests: A law enforcement officer may make a warrantless arrest when he or she has probable cause to believe that a person is about to commit a crime, or when a warrantless arrest is necessary to prevent the imminent commission of a crime.
