Utah Young Drivers (AYD) is an innovative program designed to help young drivers in the state of Utah become safer and more responsible when behind the wheel. AYD provides a comprehensive curriculum for new drivers, including classroom instruction, driving activities, and a road test. The program is designed to teach teens the basics of driving, such as how to properly maintain a vehicle, navigate the roads, and practice safe driving habits. AYD also offers a variety of programs for advanced drivers, such as defensive driving courses, crash avoidance training, and a skills' competition. There are three types of Utah Young Drivers programs: Teen Drivers, Advanced Drivers, and Skills Competition. The Teen Drivers program is designed for those aged 15-18 who have a valid learner’s permit and are ready to take the next step in becoming a safe and responsible driver. The Advanced Drivers program is designed for those aged 16-21 who have already completed the Teen Drivers program and are ready to take on more challenging driving situations. The Skills Competition is an annual event in which drivers compete against each other in a variety of driving tasks.
