The Utah Order Extending Temporary Protective Order is a legal document issued by a court in the state of Utah that extends the period of time for which a Temporary Protective Order (TPO) is in place. The TPO is a court order designed to protect a victim from further abuse or harassment from an abuser. The Utah Order Extending Temporary Protective Order can be issued for a variety of reasons, including to prevent further abuse or harassment of the victim, to enable the victim to obtain the necessary resources to protect themselves, or to provide the victim with an opportunity to seek legal advice or counseling. The order can be issued for up to one year, but may be extended as needed. There are two types of Utah Order Extending Temporary Protective Order: an Emergency Extension and a Renewal. The Emergency Extension is granted by the court when the abuser poses an immediate threat to the safety of the victim. The Renewal is issued when the victim does not feel safe and requests an extension of the TPO. In either case, the Utah Order Extending Temporary Protective Order requires that the abuser stay away from the victim, their residence, their place of work, and any other place they may frequent. The order can also include a provision for the payment of financial support to the victim. In order for the Utah Order Extending Temporary Protective Order to be valid, both parties must be notified of the order. The abuser must be served with the order in person, and the victim must be served with a copy of the order.
