A Virginia Addendum for Protected Information is a document used in the Commonwealth of Virginia to protect sensitive information, such as Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and financial account numbers. The Virginia Addendum for Protected Information is required to be included in certain documents, such as contracts and leases, in order to ensure that the sensitive information is not disclosed to unauthorized third parties. There are two primary types of Virginia Addendum for Protected Information: the Virginia Addendum for Personal Information and the Virginia Addendum for Credit Card Information. The Virginia Addendum for Personal Information applies to Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and other similar personally identifiable information. The Virginia Addendum for Credit Card Information applies to credit card numbers, expiration dates, and other similar financial account information. Both types of Virginia Addendum for Protected Information must be properly executed and included in the documents to which it applies in order for the sensitive information to be protected.
