The Virginia Request for Waiver to File Conventionally is a form used by taxpayers who are required to file electronically to request a waiver from the Virginia Department of Taxation. This waiver allows the taxpayer to file their taxes conventionally (by mail or in person) instead of electronically. The form must be completed and submitted to the Department of Taxation in order to have the waiver granted. There are two types of waivers: an individual waiver and a business waiver. The individual waiver is for individuals filing their own taxes, while the business waiver is for businesses filing taxes on behalf of their organization or company. Both types require the taxpayer to provide information regarding their tax filing status, the type of taxes they are filing, and the reasons why electronic filing is not possible. The form must also include the taxpayer's signature and date. After the form is submitted, the Department of Taxation will review the information provided and make a determination whether the waiver is granted.
