The Virginia Order for Restoration of Driving Privilege is a document issued by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) that restores the driving privileges of a driver who has had them taken away due to a traffic violation or other offense. It is also known as a court-ordered reinstatement of driving privileges. There are three types of Virginia Order for Restoration of Driving Privilege: full restoration, restricted restoration, and limited restoration. Full restoration grants the driver all of their driving privileges, including driving for business and pleasure, as long as they abide by the laws and regulations of the state. Restricted restoration limits the driver to certain activities, such as driving to and from work, school, church, medical appointments, or other activities related to the driver’s job. Limited restoration grants the driver limited driving privileges for a set period of time, such as one year, and requires the driver to take a driver improvement course. Once the driver has completed the course, they must reapply for full restoration. To obtain a Virginia Order for Restoration of Driving Privilege, the driver must submit an application to the DMV. The DMV will review the application and decide if the driver is eligible for restoration.
