A Virginia Levy Request is a request to the Virginia Department of Taxation to place a lien on a taxpayer’s property or assets. This is done to ensure that the taxpayer pays the taxes they owe. There are two types of Virginia Levy Requests: a Response to Levy Request and an Administrative Levy Request. A Response to Levy Request is a form filed by a taxpayer in response to a notification of a Virginia Department of Taxation’s intent to levy a taxpayer’s property or assets. An Administrative Levy Request is a request from a creditor or a taxpayer to the Virginia Department of Taxation to place a lien on a taxpayer’s property or assets to recover what is owed. These requests can be used to secure payment of delinquent tax debt and to collect on unpaid tax liabilities.
