Virginia Application for Coordinated State Review — CR (CSR-CR) is an online application that is used by Virginia school districts to request state funding for various development projects. The CSR-CR is used to submit a comprehensive funding request package, which includes a detailed description of the project, the estimated costs, and any applicable waivers. There are three types of Virginia Application for Coordinated State Review — CR: the Capital Improvement Project Application (CIA), the School Renovation and Expansion Application (AREA), and the New Construction Application (NCA). The CIA is used to request funding for capital improvements, such as the construction of a new school building, the renovation of an existing structure, or the installation of new equipment. The AREA is used to request funding for school renovation and expansion projects, such as the addition of classrooms or the conversion of existing classrooms to modern learning spaces. The NCA is used to request funding for new construction projects, which are typically larger and more complex than the other two types of applications. All applications must be submitted to the Virginia Department of Education, which will review and approve them before releasing any funding.
