Virginia Taxpayer ID Number & Statement of Responsibilities is a document issued by the Virginia Department of Taxation (DOT) to any individual or business entity that is subject to taxation in the Commonwealth of Virginia. It is used to identify the taxpayer and track their tax-related activity. The Virginia Taxpayer ID Number is an eight-digit alphanumeric code that is assigned to each taxpayer. The ID is unique to each taxpayer, and is required to file taxes in Virginia. The Statement of Responsibilities is a document that outlines the taxpayer’s duties and responsibilities when filing taxes in Virginia. It includes information about filing requirements, payment deadlines, and other important information. There are two types of Virginia Taxpayer ID Number & Statement of Responsibilities: individual and business. Individual taxpayers will receive a Virginia Taxpayer ID Number and Statement of Responsibilities when they register with the Department of Taxation. Business entities, such as corporations and LCS, must register with the Department of Taxation and obtain a Virginia Taxpayer ID Number and Statement of Responsibilities.
