Virginia Termination of Wage Loss Award (TWA) is a form of compensation offered to workers who have been injured on the job in the state of Virginia. TWA is available to injured workers who have been unable to return to work for more than seven days due to their injury, or who have suffered a permanent disability or death as a result of their injury. It provides compensation for lost wages, medical bills, and other costs associated with the injury. The amount of compensation is based on a percentage of the worker’s average weekly wage prior to the injury. There are two types of TWA available in Virginia: permanent total disability and permanent partial disability. Permanent total disability awards are for those who are permanently and totally disabled and unable to work in any capacity, while permanent partial disability awards are for those who are able to return to some form of work but not as much as they were able to do prior to the injury.
