A Vermont Affidavit Upon Receipt of Firearms is a legal document used in Vermont to certify the transfer of a firearm from a seller to a buyer. This affidavit is required by Vermont law to be completed and filed with the Vermont Secretary of State's Office in order to officially record the transfer. The affidavit must include the names and addresses of the buyer and seller, the make, model and serial number of the firearm, the date of the transfer, and the signature of both parties. There are two types of Vermont Affidavit Upon Receipt of Firearms: a standard affidavit and a "Long Gun" affidavit. The standard affidavit is used for the transfer of any firearm other than a long gun, and the Long Gun affidavit is used for the transfer of a long gun, such as a rifle or shotgun. Both forms must be completed and filed with the Vermont Secretary of State's Office in order to officially record the transfer.
