A Vermont Notice of Appearance + Motion for Contempt is a legal document that is filed by a party to a case in order to inform the court of their involvement in the case and to ask the court to hold the other party in contempt for failing to comply with a court order. The Notice of Appearance informs the court of the party's presence in the case and of their intention to actively participate in the proceedings. The Motion for Contempt seeks to hold the other party in contempt for failing to comply with the court order. There are two types of Vermont Notice of Appearance + Motion for Contempt: Contempt for Disobedience of a Court Order and Contempt for Violation of an Order of Protection. Contempt for Disobedience of a Court Order is used when a party has failed to comply with a court order, such as a child support order, or an order to pay fines or costs. Contempt for Violation of an Order of Protection is used when a party has violated a restraining order or other provisions of an order of protection.
