The Vermont PC Subsidy Application is a program that provides financial assistance to low-income households for the purchase of a computer and internet access. The program is administered by the Vermont Department of Economic Services (DES) and funded by the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). There are three types of Vermont PC Subsidy Applications: Basic PC Subsidy Application, Student PC Subsidy Application, and Special Needs PC Subsidy Application. The Basic PC Subsidy Application is available to all families who qualify for SNAP and meet the income requirements. The Student PC Subsidy Application is available to students in grades K-12 who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch under the National School Lunch Program. The Special Needs PC Subsidy Application is for persons with disabilities who have difficulty accessing a computer or the internet. The application process includes completing an online application, providing proof of income, and providing a signed copy of a purchase agreement for the computer. Upon approval, the applicant will receive a voucher that can be used towards the purchase of a computer and internet access.
