Vermont Memorandum of Payment (MOP) is a document used in Vermont to record and track payments made between two parties. It is typically used for payments made in transactions such as sales, services, or rental agreements. The MOP is a legally binding document that can be used to enforce payment and/or payment terms if needed. Vermont Mops come in two forms: the General Memorandum of Payment, and the Memorandum of Payment with Additional Provisions. The General Memorandum of Payment is a basic document that records the amount of money and date of payment. The Memorandum of Payment with Additional Provisions is an expanded version of the General MOP that includes additional terms and provisions, such as payment due dates, interest rates, late fees, and other payment information. Both types of Mops are available from Vermont's Office of the Secretary of State, and can be completed online or printed and completed by hand. The MOP must be signed by both parties in order to be legally binding.
