Washington Prisoner Transfer Requests are documents that allow for the transfer of a prisoner from one correctional facility to another, or from a correctional facility to another state or jurisdiction. There are two types of Washington Prisoner Transfer Requests—interstate transfers and intrastate transfers. Interstate transfers involve a prisoner being transferred from one state to another, while an intrastate transfer involves a prisoner being moved from one facility to another within the same state. The Washington Department of Corrections is responsible for processing and approving the transfer requests. The request must include the name of the prisoner, the reason for the transfer, the desired location, and the desired transfer date. The request must also be signed by the prisoner, the Warden of the current facility, and the Warden of the receiving facility. Approved transfer requests will be reviewed and approved by the Washington State Department of Corrections before the transfer is finalized.
