Washington Petition for Conditional Admission To Practice is a petition filed with the Washington State Supreme Court that allows an attorney to practice law in the state of Washington without first taking the bar exam. The petition is available to attorneys who have been admitted to the bar in another U.S. jurisdiction and who have practiced law in that jurisdiction for a minimum of five years. It is also available to attorneys who have graduated from an American Bar Association-approved law school and who have been practicing law in another jurisdiction for two years or more. There are two types of Washington Petition for Conditional Admission to Practice: the Regular Petition and the Limited Practice Petition. The Regular Petition allows an attorney to practice law in the state of Washington in all areas of law. The Limited Practice Petition allows an attorney to practice only in specific areas of law, as determined by the court.
