The Washington Declaration of Service is an agreement between the state of Washington and volunteer service providers that was signed in 2002. It is a commitment to serve the public through volunteer programs. The Declaration outlines the shared responsibility of the state and volunteers to serve the public and to ensure that all citizens have access to high-quality public services. It includes four core values: Respect, Excellence, Equity, and Opportunity. The Declaration also outlines the roles and responsibilities of the state and the volunteer service providers, including the need for ongoing communication and collaboration. There are two types of Washington Declaration of Service: the Washington State Service Plan and the Washington State Service Awards. The Service Plan is a comprehensive document that outlines the goals, objectives, and strategies for the state's service programs. The Service Awards recognize individuals and organizations who demonstrate outstanding volunteer service. Both documents are used to promote and encourage volunteerism in Washington.
