Washington Guardian Ad Items Statement of Qualifications is a document that outlines the qualifications and experience of an individual who is seeking to become a guardian ad item in the state of Washington. It is important to note that Washington has two types of guardians ad item, referred to as Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and non-CASA. The Statement of Qualifications for a CASA guardian ad item includes information about the applicant’s education, experience, and training; their knowledge and understanding of guardianship law; and their commitment to the best interests of the child. The Statement of Qualifications for a non-CASA guardian ad item includes information about the applicant’s education, experience, and training; their knowledge and understanding of guardianship law; their commitment to the best interests of the child, and ability to act as an independent decision-maker. Both types of statements must be submitted to the court for consideration.
