Washington Guardianship Inventory is a state-specific document used to assess a guardian’s ability to provide care for a ward. The inventory consists of a questionnaire that assesses the guardian’s knowledge and understanding of the ward’s needs, the guardian’s ability to meet those needs, the guardian’s financial resources, and the guardian’s commitment to the ward. It is typically used by courts and other state agencies in the evaluation of a guardian’s fitness and capacity for guardianship. There are three types of Washington Guardianship Inventory: 1) The Basic Inventory, 2) The Comprehensive Inventory, and 3) The Specialized Inventory. The Basic Inventory is used to assess basic guardianship information such as the guardian’s relationship to the ward, the guardian’s knowledge of the ward’s needs, and the guardian’s ability to meet those needs. The Comprehensive Inventory is used to assess more detailed information such as the guardian’s financial resources and the guardian’s commitment to the ward. The Specialized Inventory is used to assess the guardian’s ability to manage and provide for the ward’s specialized needs, such as medical or behavioral issues.
