Washington Letters of Administration is a legal document issued by the court in the state of Washington that grants a person the power to act as the personal representative of a deceased person's estate. It is also known as a grant of administration. There are two types of Washington Letters of Administration: General Letters of Administration and Limited Letters of Administration. General Letters of Administration grants the personal representative full authority to manage the estate, including the right to sell assets, pay debts and distribute assets to the heirs. Limited Letters of Administration grants the personal representative more limited authority, such as the right to collect assets or pay certain debts. Both types of Washington Letter of Administration must be obtained from the court, and the personal representative must be appointed in the order of priority laid out in the state's statutes.
