The Washington Declaration of Service is an agreement between the State of Washington and its citizens to work together to create a high-quality, safe, and healthy environment in which to live and work. The declaration outlines the rights and responsibilities of the people of Washington, including the right to participate in their government, the right to access public services, and the responsibility to protect the environment. It also outlines the state's commitment to providing services and resources to enhance the quality of life for all Washingtonians. There are two types of Washington Declaration of Service: the Common Declaration of Service, which is applicable to all citizens of Washington; and the Enhanced Declaration of Service, which is applicable to those citizens who choose to make a deeper commitment to their community, the environment, and state government. Both declarations require citizens to participate in civic engagement activities, such as volunteering in their community, participating in public forums, and advocating for public policies that benefit their community. Additionally, both declarations emphasize personal responsibility and accountability for improving the lives of Washingtonians.
