There are three types of Washington Adoption — Petitioners Sworn Statement: the Joint Petitioners Sworn Statement, the Single Petitioner Sworn Statement, and the Stepparent Petitioner Sworn Statement. The Joint Petitioners Sworn Statement is completed by two prospective adoptive parents who are both over the age of 18 and legally married. The Single Petitioner Sworn Statement is completed by one prospective adoptive parent who is over the age of 18 and legally unmarried. The Stepparent Petitioner Sworn Statement is completed by one prospective adoptive parent who is the stepparent of the child being adopted.
