A Washington Child Support Order is a legal document issued by a court of law in the state of Washington that establishes the amount of child support a parent is responsible for paying. This order is used to determine the financial support a parent is responsible for providing for their children and is based on the Washington State Child Support Schedule. The Washington Child Support Schedule is based on the parents' income, the number of children they have, and the amount of time they spend with their children. There are four different types of Washington Child Support Orders: initial orders, modified orders, non-parent orders, and enforcement orders. Initial orders establish the initial amount of child support to be paid. Modified orders adjust the amount of child support due if either parent's circumstances or income changes. Non-parent orders establish a child support obligation when the parents are not married or otherwise related. Enforcement orders enforce existing child support orders.
