Washington Order Re Motion for Surrender of Weapons (OR GMT) is a court order used by law enforcement officers in Washington State to seize firearms or other weapons from individuals who pose a danger to themselves or others. There are two types of OR GMT: Temporary OR GMT and Permanent OR GMT. A Temporary OR GMT is issued by a court when law enforcement presents evidence that an individual poses a danger to themselves or others and can last up to 14 days. During this time, the individual must surrender their firearms or other weapons to the law enforcement agency. A Permanent OR GMT is issued when a court finds that an individual poses a danger to themselves or others and can last up to one year. During this time, the individual must permanently surrender their firearms or other weapons to the law enforcement agency. Both types of OR GMT are subject to appeal and revocation. The individual may request a hearing to challenge the OR GMT and must provide a written statement and evidence to support their case. The court can then decide to revoke or extend the OR GMT.
