The Washington Order for Chemical Dependency Screening and Risk Assessment Report for Parenting Sentencing Alternative is a process used by the Washington State Department of Corrections. It is a comprehensive evaluation of an individual's alcohol and drug use, as well as their risk assessment for parenting. The evaluation is used to inform sentencing decisions for those eligible for the Parenting Sentencing Alternative (PSA), which is a program designed to allow parents to complete a court-ordered treatment program while continuing to care for their children. The Washington Order for Chemical Dependency Screening and Risk Assessment Report for Parenting Sentencing Alternative consists of four main components: 1. A chemical dependency screening conducted by a qualified professional to assess an individual's alcohol or drug use. 2. An in-depth risk assessment to evaluate an individual's risk of recidivism and parenting abilities. 3. A clinical review of the individual's alcohol and drug use history. 4. A recommendation from the evaluator regarding the individual's eligibility for the PSA program and any additional sentencing requirements. There are two types of Washington Order for Chemical Dependency Screening and Risk Assessment Reports for Parenting Sentencing Alternative: a Comprehensive Report and a Short Form Report. The Comprehensive Report is a more in-depth evaluation that includes all four components, while the Short Form Report is a more abbreviated version that includes the screening and risk assessment components only.
