Washington Temporary Extreme Risk Protection Order-Without Notice is an order issued by a court in Washington state that temporarily prohibits a person from possessing firearms or other dangerous weapons. This type of order is issued without prior notice to the affected person. It is also known as an RPOPO” or “Extreme Risk Protection Order.” The order is designed to prevent individuals who are deemed to pose an immediate danger to themselves or others from having access to firearms or other dangerous weapons. It is typically issued following a petition filed by law enforcement or a family member of the person in question. There are two types of Washington Temporary Extreme Risk Protection Order-Without Notice: (1) an ex parte order, which is issued without the affected person being present, and (2) a full hearing order, which requires the affected person to appear in court. In either case, the order is in place for a maximum of 14 days.
