The Washington Petition for a Parenting Plan, Residential Schedule and/or Child Support is a form used in the state of Washington to establish a plan for the care and custody of children of divorced parents. The petition can be filed by either parent or both parents together and is used to ask the court to set a Parenting Plan, Residential Schedule and/or Child Support Order. The Washington Petition for a Parenting Plan includes a request for a residential schedule, which outlines when and where a child will reside, a parenting plan, which includes provisions for decision-making, communication, and parenting time, and a child support order, which sets a financial support obligation for either parent. There are two different types of Washington Petition for a Parenting Plan, Residential Schedule and/or Child Support: 1. Joint Petition — This is filed when both parents agree on all the terms of the Parenting Plan, Residential Schedule and/or Child Support. 2. Sole Petition — This is filed when one parent is requesting the court to set a Parenting Plan, Residential Schedule and/or Child Support order. This petition is sometimes used when the parents cannot agree on the terms of the plan.
