Washington Counsel and Release (CWR) is a program operated by the Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC). CWR provides legal services and assistance to those who are incarcerated in state correctional facilities, local jails, or community corrections centers in Washington. The program provides legal assistance to individuals who are incarcerated, as well as their families and loved ones. CWR provides advice and representation on a wide range of matters, including criminal charges, sentencing, parole, release, and post-release supervision. CWR also assists with appeals, hearings, and other post-release matters. There are two different types of Washington Counsel and Release (CWR): Standard CWR and Enhanced CWR. Standard CWR provides legal advice and assistance to those who are incarcerated in state correctional facilities, local jails, and community corrections centers in Washington. Enhanced CWR provides additional legal assistance to those inmates who meet certain criteria.
