A Washington Notice of Appeal (To Court of Appeals Or Supreme Court) is a document that is filed when a party to a case wishes to appeal a decision of a lower court to the Washington State Court of Appeals or the Washington Supreme Court. The Notice of Appeal is the document that initiates the appellate process and must be filed within 30 days of the judgment or order being appealed. The Notice of Appeal must include the names of the parties, the court from which the appeal is taken, the case number of the lower court, the date of the judgment or order being appealed, a statement that the appeal is being taken to the Court of Appeals or the Supreme Court, a statement of the grounds of the appeal, and the signature of the party filing the appeal. There are two types of Washington Notices of Appeal (To Court of Appeals Or Supreme Court): a Notice of Appeal in Civil Cases and a Notice of Appeal in Criminal Cases. The Notice of Appeal in Civil Cases is used to appeal a decision of a lower court to the Washington State Court of Appeals or the Washington Supreme Court in civil cases, such as contract disputes, tort claims, or foreclosure actions. The Notice of Appeal in Criminal Cases is used to appeal a decision of a lower court to the Washington State Court of Appeals or the Washington Supreme Court in criminal cases, such as convictions for a crime, sentences, or other criminal matters.
