Washington Temporary Sexual Assault Protection Order And Notice of Hearing is a legal document issued by the Washington State courts to protect victims of sexual assault from further harm. This document requires the accused person to stay away from the victim and not contact them in any way. It also provides the victim with other protections such as requiring the accused to surrender any firearms they possess and prohibiting them from entering the victim’s residence. The Order is effective immediately upon being served on the accused and will remain in effect until a full hearing is held. The Notice of Hearing provides the accused with information about the hearing, the date, time, and location of the hearing, as well as the name of the judge who will be presiding over the hearing. There are two types of Washington Temporary Sexual Assault Protection Order and Notice of Hearing: Temporary Ex Parte Order and Temporary Full Order. A Temporary Ex Parte Order is issued without the accused present and may be issued for up to 14 days. A Temporary Full Order is issued after a hearing is held and may be issued for up to one year.
