The Washington Declaration of Entitlement (Surviving Spouse) is a document that recognizes the rights of a surviving spouse to receive certain benefits and entitlements from the state of Washington. This document applies to all marriages, including same-sex marriages, and is available to any individual who is the surviving spouse of a deceased Washington resident. The Washington Declaration of Entitlement (Surviving Spouse) grants the surviving spouse the right to inherit the deceased's estate, receive survivor benefits, and take part in certain decisions regarding the deceased's estate. There are two types of Washington Declaration of Entitlement (Surviving Spouse): the standard declaration and the enhanced declaration. The standard declaration covers the rights of the surviving spouse to receive the deceased's estate and survivor benefits. The enhanced declaration provides additional benefits such as the right to receive spousal maintenance or support and to have a say in the distribution of the deceased's assets.
