Washington Termination of Agreement (Rescission) is a legal process by which a contract can be terminated. It is a form of contract rescission, which is the cancellation or annulment of a contract, and the parties to the contract are returned to the positions they were in before the agreement was made. Rescission of a contract in Washington State is governed by state statute RCW 62A.2-608. There are two types of Washington Termination of Agreement (Rescission): Mutual Rescission and Unilateral Rescission. Mutual Rescission is an agreement between the parties to a contract to rescind it. This means that both parties agree to terminate the contract and be restored to the position they were in before the agreement was made. Unilateral Rescission is when one party to the contract terminates the contract without the consent of the other party. This type of rescission is usually done by the party who is not receiving any benefit from the contract.
