Washington Application for Benefits — Homicide Claims is a financial assistance program available to families of homicide victims in Washington State. It provides eligible families with a one-time cash benefit of up to $50,000 to help with funeral expenses, lost income, and other financial needs related to the death of their loved one. There are three types of Washington Application for Benefits — Homicide Claims: 1) Death Penalty Homicide Claims, 2) Non-Death Penalty Homicide Claims, and 3) Elderly/Disabled Homicide Claims. To be eligible, an applicant must be related to the homicide victim by blood, marriage, adoption, or other legal relationship. Applicants must also provide proof of the victim's identity and cause of death. Documentation of financial need may also be required.
