Washington Affidavit of Experience — Asbestos Supervisor Certification is a certification program that is required by the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) for individuals who wish to become certified asbestos supervisors in the state. It is administered by the Asbestos Control Program of the L&I. The Asbestos Supervisor Certification requires the applicant to have a minimum of two years of experience in the construction, demolition, or renovation of buildings containing regulated asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) and to have successfully completed the Asbestos Supervisor Training Course. There are two types of Washington Affidavit of Experience — Asbestos Supervisor Certification: Qualified Asbestos Supervisor (WAS) and Qualified Asbestos Supervisor Limited (ASL). A Qualified Asbestos Supervisor (WAS) is an individual who has met the requirements, as specified in the L&I Asbestos Supervisor Certification Rule, to perform the duties of a supervisor of asbestos-containing materials (ACM) removal projects. A Qualified Asbestos Supervisor Limited (ASL) is an individual who has met the requirements, as specified in the L&I Asbestos Supervisor Certification Rule, to perform the duties of a supervisor of limited asbestos-containing materials (ACM) removal projects.
