Washington Agency Requested Inspection (WAR) is an inspection service offered by the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) to ensure the safe handling of hazardous materials and safe working conditions in facilities that handle hazardous materials. WAR can be requested by a facility’s owner or operator, or by the DOH, and is conducted by DOH-certified inspectors. The inspection includes a review of the facility’s hazardous material handling plans, a physical inspection of the facility, and a review of the hazardous material storage, use, and disposal practices. There are two types of Washington Agency Requested Inspections: an Initial Inspection and a Follow-Up Inspection. The Initial Inspection is conducted to evaluate the overall safety and compliance of the facility and its hazardous material handling practices. The Follow-Up Inspection is conducted to ensure that any safety or compliance issues identified in the Initial Inspection have been addressed.
