Washington Boiler / Pressure Vessel Water Heater Installation or Reinstallation Permit is a document issued by the Department of Labor & Industries in Washington state that allows a contractor to install or reinstall a boiler or pressure vessel water heater. This permit is required for any boiler or pressure vessel water heater that is rated over 200,000 BTU's. There are two types of Washington Boiler / Pressure Vessel Water Heater Installation or Reinstallation Permit: 1) a New Installation Permit for new installations and 2) a Reinstallation Permit for reinstalling an existing boiler or pressure vessel water heater. The permit application must be submitted to L&I and approved before the installation or reinstallation can take place. To qualify for the permit, the contractor must provide the required documentation and information, such as a copy of the manufacturer's installation instructions, a copy of the manufacturer's warranty, proof of insurance, and proof of inspection of the boiler or pressure vessel. Once the permit is approved, the contractor will be issued a permit number which must be displayed on the installed boiler or pressure vessel water heater.
