Washington Internal Revenue Service Tax Compliance Certification is an official document issued by the Washington State Department of Revenue (WSD OR) that verifies a business is compliant with state tax laws. It is required in order to obtain a business license or other professional license in the state of Washington. The certification is valid for one year and must be renewed annually. There are three types of Washington Internal Revenue Service Tax Compliance Certification: basic tax compliance certification, advanced tax compliance certification, and professional tax compliance certification. Basic tax compliance certification covers basic taxes such as sales and use, business and occupation, and other applicable taxes. Advanced tax compliance certification covers more complex taxes such as excise taxes, public utility taxes, and other specialized taxes. Professional tax compliance certification is for individuals who are registered with the Washington State Board of Accountancy or the Washington State Department of Financial Institutions. The certification includes tax compliance plus additional requirements such as continuing education and other financial certification.
