Washington Provider Network Agreement (WPA) is a contract between the State of Washington and providers of healthcare services. This agreement sets forth the terms and conditions for participating providers to become a part of the state's health care system. It outlines the rights and responsibilities of both parties, and the services and reimbursement for services provided. The WPA is divided into two types of agreements: Primary Care Provider Network Agreement (PC PNA) and Specialty Care Provider Network Agreement (SC PNA). The PC PNA is for primary care providers such as family practitioners, internists, pediatricians, and OB/Guns. The SC PNA is for specialty care providers such as cardiologists, neurologists, and endocrinologists. The WPA outlines the scope of services that providers are required to offer, the fee schedules for services, the reimbursement methodology, and the administrative processes for claims submission and payment. It also outlines the requirements for quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives, and the policies and procedures for patient-provider communication and access to care. Additionally, the WPA outlines the requirements for participation in the State's Medicaid and Medicare programs.
