Resource Utilization Group (RUG) Residential Care Services for L&I Injured Workers (In place of MDS 3.0 beginning October 1, 2010.)
Washington Resource Utilization Group (RUG) Residential Care Services for L&I Injured Workers are a new system of services for individuals with an injury or illness resulting from their work in the state of Washington. This program, which began October 1, 2010, is intended to replace the MDS 3.0 system of services. Washington RUG Residential Care Services provide a comprehensive package of services and supports for injured workers who need assistance with medical, rehabilitation, psychosocial, and vocational services related to their injury or illness. The services include: • Assessment anEvaluationio— - A comprehensive assessment of the individual's physical, psychological, and vocational needs and abilities in order to develop an individualized treatment plan. • Medical Car— - Medical care, including doctor visits, treatments, and medications, to provide relief from the injury or illness. Rehabilitationio— - Rehabilitation services to help the individual regain or improve functioning, such as physical or occupational therapy, and assistive technology training. • Psychosocial Service— - Mental health services, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or family therapy, and other psychosocial support services. • Vocational Service— - Vocational services, including job readiness training, job placement services, and job coaching, to help the individual return to work. • Support Service— - Support services, such as home health aides, home modifications, and caregiver support, to help the individual maintain independence.
