Washington Retrospective Rating Adjustment Protest (WRAP) is a process that allows employers in the state of Washington to dispute their workers' compensation premium rates. WRAP is a process that allows employers to dispute their final premium rate, premium rate adjustments, and/or a premium rate calculation error. The WRAP process is administered by the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I). There are two types of Washington Retrospective Rating Adjustment Protest: Formal Protest and Informal Protest. With the Formal Protest, employers must complete the required form and submit it to the L&I with supporting documentation. The L&I will then consider the employer's protest and make a decision. The Informal Protest is similar to the Formal Protest, however, employers do not have to submit the required form and supporting documentation. Instead, the employer must submit a letter to the L&I with the details of the protest. The L&I will then consider the employer's protest and make a decision.
