Washington Sports Player Coverage Agreement (SPA) is a contract between a professional athlete and the Washington Sports Commission (WSC). It outlines the terms of the player’s rights and obligations surrounding the use of their name, image, and likeness for marketing, advertising, and promotional purposes. It also outlines the terms of the player’s access to medical and injury care, insurance, and other benefits provided by the WSC. There are two types of SPA: the Standard Player Coverage Agreement and the Enhanced Player Coverage Agreement. The Standard Player Coverage Agreement is the most basic agreement and covers the basics of player coverage. It includes the right to use the player’s name, image, and likeness for marketing and promotional purposes, as well as access to medical and injury care, insurance, and other benefits. The Enhanced Player Coverage Agreement is a more comprehensive agreement that covers additional benefits such as off-season training, access to career counseling, and educational opportunities.
