Washington Temporary Limited Category 03 Elevator Mechanic is an elevator technician who is qualified to install, maintain, test, inspect, and repair all types of elevators and escalators in the state of Washington. This includes passenger elevators, freight elevators, residential elevators, service elevators, escalators, and wheelchair lifts. The technician must possess a valid Washington Temporary Limited Category 03 Elevator Mechanic license to perform these services. There are two types of Washington Temporary Limited Category 03 Elevator Mechanics: the Limited Elevator Mechanic and the Limited Escalator Mechanic. The Limited Elevator Mechanic is qualified to work on elevators and is required to complete at least 4,000 hours of on-the-job training, pass a written exam, and submit proof of a valid Washington Temporary Limited Category 03 Elevator Mechanic license. The Limited Escalator Mechanic is qualified to work on escalators and is required to complete at least 2,000 hours of on-the-job training, pass a written exam, and submit proof of a valid Washington Temporary Limited Category 03 Escalator Mechanic license.
