The Washington Work Status Form (formerly Worker Verification Form) is a document used by employers in the state of Washington to verify the employment status and the employment eligibility of potential and current employees. It is required by the state of Washington for all employers. The form is used to verify that a worker is legally authorized to work in the United States. There are three types of Washington Work Status Forms: the I-9, the W-4, and the E-Verify. The I-9 is used to verify the identity and employment eligibility of all employees. It requires employers to review a selection of identity documents, such as a driver’s license, passport, or Social Security card, and compare them to the information provided on the employee’s I-9 form. The W-4 form is used to determine the amount of federal income tax to be withheld from an employee’s wages. Employers must have a completed W-4 form on file for each employee. The E-Verify system is an electronic method for verifying the identity and employment eligibility of employees. Employers must register with the E-Verify system and verify the information given by employees against the Social Security Administration’s database.
