Washington Your Independent Medical Exam (TIME) is an evaluation conducted by an independent medical examiner (IME) to assess a person’s medical condition. This type of exam is typically requested by an insurance carrier to determine whether a person has an existing medical condition or is at risk for developing one. The Washington TIME typically includes a physical examination, laboratory tests, and an assessment of the patient’s medical history. Depending on the purpose of the exam, the examiner may also ask questions about lifestyle, occupation, and other factors. The primary types of Washington TIME are disability evaluations and pre-employment screenings. Disability evaluations are used to assess an individual’s condition in order to determine if they are able to receive disability benefits. Pre-employment screenings are conducted to assess an individual’s health before they are hired for a job. Washington Times are conducted by certified, independent medical examiners who have been approved by the Washington Department of Health. The examiners must be licensed physicians and board certified in their specialty. They must also be familiar with the guidelines set forth by the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries.
