Wisconsin Informal Disposition Agreement (In Need of Protection or Services) is a voluntary, out-of-court agreement created by parents, guardians, and/or the court, in order to address a child’s needs in an effort to avoid the need for formal court proceedings. This agreement allows the parties involved to identify issues regarding the care, protection, and/or services needed for the child, and to negotiate a plan for addressing those needs. This agreement is also used as a form of alternative dispute resolution. The agreement is meant to be a flexible and effective way to provide for the child’s well-being. There are three types of Wisconsin Informal Disposition Agreement (In Need of Protection or Services): Supervision Agreement, Dispositional Agreement, and Parent Education Agreement. A Supervision Agreement is used to provide court-ordered supervision of a child. A Dispositional Agreement is used when a child has been found to have committed a delinquent act and requires a more intensive form of supervision. Finally, a Parent Education Agreement is used when the court believes that the parents or guardians need to receive additional education or counseling in order to properly care for the child.
