Wisconsin Orders Concerning Termination of Parental Rights (Voluntary) is a court order issued by the Wisconsin Circuit Court that terminates the legal rights of a parent. This document is used when a parent voluntarily gives up their parental rights and responsibilities to a child, allowing another individual or family to become the legal guardian of the child. There are two types of Wisconsin Orders Concerning Termination of Parental Rights (Voluntary): 1) Unsupervised Termination of Parental Rights (TPR) and 2) Supervised Termination of Parental Rights (STAR). TPR is commonly used when the parent and the child have had no contact for at least six months and the parent has not provided financial or other support for the child during that period. STAR is used when the parent and the child have had contact, but the parent is not able to provide the necessary care or support for the child. In both cases, the parent must sign a voluntary consent form, which is included in the court order.
