A Wisconsin Postdisposition Emergency Change in Placement Order (In-Home to Out-of-Home) is an order issued by the court to move a child from their family home to an out-of-home setting, such as a foster home or group home, due to an emergency situation. This action is taken when there is an immediate threat to the safety, health, and welfare of the child, or if the child is at imminent risk of serious harm. This order may be issued by the court in the event of a parental emergency, when the parents are unable to provide adequate care or supervision, or when the child poses an imminent threat of harm to themselves or others. There are two types of Wisconsin Postdisposition Emergency Change in Placement Order (In-Home to Out-of-Home): Temporary Emergency Placement and Extended Emergency Placement. A Temporary Emergency Placement is for up to five days, and an Extended Emergency Placement is for up to 30 days, depending on the severity of the situation.
