Wisconsin Order for Extension of Dispositional Order or Consent Decree (Out-of-Home Placement Only) is a legal document issued by the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families that extends the period of out-of-home placement for a child in foster care. This order is issued when the original period of placement has expired and the parent(s) or guardian(s) are unable to provide adequate care for the child. This order allows the state to continue providing care for the child through a contracted foster care or group home provider. There are two types of Wisconsin Order for Extension of Dispositional Order or Consent Decree (Out-of-Home Placement Only): Dispositional Order Extension and Consent Decree Extension. A Dispositional Order Extension is issued when the court has determined that the child’s best interests require that the child remain in out-of-home placement for a period longer than the initial period of placement. A Consent Decree Extension is issued when the court has determined that the child’s best interests require that the child remain in out-of-home placement and the parent(s) or guardian(s) have consented to the extension.
