A Wisconsin Income Assignment Order for Unpaid Fines and Other Financial Obligations (WI-IAO) is an order from the court requiring an individual to have wages or other income withheld from their paycheck for the purpose of paying unpaid fines or other financial obligations. The WI-IAO is issued after the individual has failed to pay the amount they owe or to comply with the terms of their payment plan. There are three types of WI-IAO: General WI-IAO, WI-IAO for a Specific Amount, and WI-IAO for a Specific Period of Time. The General WI-IAO orders that a designated portion of the individual's wages or other income be withheld until the debt is paid. The WI-IAO for a Specific Amount orders that a specific dollar amount be withheld from the individual's wages or other income and applied to the debt until it is paid in full. The WI-IAO for a Specific Period of Time orders that a specific dollar amount be withheld from the individual's wages or other income and applied to the debt until it is paid off within the specified period of time.
