The Wisconsin Petition for Half-Priced Ignition Interlock Device is a program that allows individuals convicted of an OWN (operating while intoxicated) offense in Wisconsin to petition a court to be eligible for a 50% discount on the installation and monthly rental of an Ignition Interlock Device (DID). The program is available to individuals with a first time OWN offense and a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of 0.15 or higher. The petition must be filed within 90 days of the conviction. There are two types of Ignition Interlock Devices available for the Wisconsin Petition for Half-Priced Ignition Interlock Device: the Interlock and the Danger Interlock AT. The Interlock is a handheld device with a breathalyzer that measures a user's BAC and prevents the vehicle from starting if the BAC is over 0.02. The Danger Interlock AT is a more advanced device with a built-in camera that photographs the user at the time of the breath test and records the results.
